Hamburg, 01.12.2011. are between 30,000 and 50,000 under-age girls in Germany threatened by the severe ill-treatment genital mutilation. Solo in North Rhine-Westphalia are about 10,000 women and girls from high risk countries such as Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Up to 80% of girls at risk - mostly during "holiday travel" to the home country of the parents - in fact the mutilation subject. The vulnerable children but especially in times of heated debates on integration little chance of serious prevention efforts on the part of the policy:
Rather propagate politicians of all political groups, the offender should be moved by "education and information" to a departure from the practice of mutilation. This idea, however, long been refuted by empirical facts:
- Crime Scene Investigation is known that the mutilation is illegal in Europe. They differ very reason for the acts from abroad.
- The perpetrators of the harmful consequences of the practice information on the victims. The result is not willing to give up this power.
- The criminal groups in Europe are members of an uneducated or less vulnerable environment, but the majority have higher education degrees and are working. (Download trial: http://www.taskforcefgm.de/situation/europa /).
spite of the clear constitutional framework of our society this abuse of vulnerable children "at our front door" is possible: because of the misguided prevention approaches, it is very unlikely that perpetrators and instigators will be transferred - in Germany, despite the high number of casualties so far been no indictment.
The task force therefore reiterates its calls for a mandatory investigation in combination with a doctor's duty to notify arose (for already done and for upcoming genital mutilation), and family law for collective action to protect the girls from the mayhem in the home country of the parents.
order in individual cases, acute girls protect, the task force set up in April 2010, the first national emergency hotline: 01803-767346 (01803 - SOS FGM). SOS FGM (www.sosfgm.org) advises authorities and professional and help victims.
It accompanies SOS FGM each case, until all possibilities have been taken to protect the girl. The Federation of German Detectives (BDK) supports since December 2010 as a cooperation partner, child protection work of this project.
